1926
Elaborate plans for a suitable program for the opening of the new $130,000 Hotel Ozona were made, according to C. T Brazington, manager, and one of the most important events in the history of Ozona will be celebrated with proper pomp. The date for opening the new hotel was not yet known.
1943
After reaching the assigned quota of $365,900 in the Third War Loan drive late last week, Crockett County bond buyers pushed on to do a superb job of supporting the war effort and doing even more than their share in the nationwide effort to reach the huge goal of $15 billion in Third War Loan. Bond sales in this county to the close of business yesterday had zoomed past the $400,000 mark; the exact total was $400,200.
1963
It was the first time in American Junior Rodeo Association history that a brother and sister won the same award in the same year. Beckie and Rex Bland won the Crosby Award as World’s Typical Junior Cowboy and World’s Typical Junior Cowgirl.
1983
The Automatic Teller Machine at Ozona National Bank was explained to Julie Childress by employee Ethel McCrohan. The new device was officially demonstrated at the bank the following week. Patrons were reminded to bring their teller cards and remember their code numbers.
