Ora Louise Cox Reynolds Sheppard (Coxie), a long time Dallas resident, died peacefully in her sleep on August 10th, at Franklin Park Sonterra Assisted Living in San Antonio, Texas. Born August 7, 1921, in Ozona, Texas to Louise Bailey and Bascomb Cox, she was a 5th generation Texan, and member of a large pioneer west Texas ranching family. She entered SMU in 1939, was president of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, secretary of the student council, and graduated with honors from SMU School of Music.
She married Edward D. Reynolds, Jr. of Dallas in 1945. They were married 51 years. She was an active member of the Highland Park Presbyterian Church and served for many years as a Bible study leader.
She was also a member of the Dallas Junior League, Comus Club, Coon Creek Club, and served on the board of the Dallas Audubon Society. Coxie loved life, music, the great out-of-doors, and was an avid bird watcher. She and Ed traveled the world together enjoying life and looking at birds and wildlife. She also was proud to have earned a pilot’s license in 1975. But most of all she loved and appreciated her family, her friends and her God.
In February 1999, she married H. D. “Ted” Sheppard, now deceased, of Montreal, Quebec. Coxie is survived by her much loved and appreciated children; Ned Reynolds and his wife Rhoda, and Judy Reynolds Landress and husband Roger. Five adored grandchildren Leela Landress Perez and her husband Carlos, Bailey Landress, Julia Reynolds Thompson and Ashley Thompson, Helena Reynolds Stanton and husband John, Eleanor Reynolds Parekh and husband Kayton, and one precious great-grand-child, Eloise Perez. She is also survived by her dear step-son Gary Sheppard, his wife Jill, and his three boys Gregory, Philip, and Tyler, as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by
her husband Edward, and her brother, Bud Cox and his wife Marilyn of Ozona, Texas.
