Crockett county ranchmen who have been forced by the drouth to undertake new enterprises for additional revenue, will again adopt a plan to further the poultry industry. The newest effort will be raising turkeys on a plan available through Paymaster Feed Co.
Paymaster will finance and market the turkeys with the grower furnishing his own labor and feeders. Between May 1st and May 15th, James Baggett, Pat Cooper and C.O. Walker will take delivery on 17,000 turkeys, eight weeks old, and care for them for a period of twenty-eight to twenty-nine weeks at which time they will be graded and marketed. From 1000 to 1200 turkeys can be ranged to the acre, taking approximately 350 gallons of water per day and 110 pounds of feed during the growing period.
