Sept. 23, 1926
A petition, signed by approximately 75 qualified voters residing in Ozona, was filed with County Judge Chas. E. Davidson this week asking that an election be called at the earliest date provided by the statue for the purpose of deciding at the polls the question of whether or not Ozona should become an incorporated town. The petition is headed by W. E. Smith and contains the names of practically all the leading businessmen and stockmen residing in Ozona. Many Women voters also signed the document.

Sept. 24, 1936
An ancient bayonet, found on the Massie West ranch, along the route of the Spanish trail and later stage line from San Antonio to El Paso, is on display at the Jones Saddlery. The ancient weapon was found recently by Wes Berry, employed on the ranch.

Sept. 26, 1946
Ozona art lovers will be asked for donations to aid in the construction of a West Texas art gallery and museum in San Angelo as a memorial to the late Mrs. Helen King Kendall, founder of the San Angelo Art Club and one of West Texas’ most talented artists.

Sept. 20, 1956
“Fortunes for Fancy,” the big musical home talent show, sponsored by E.S.A. Sorority, opens Monday night at the High School auditorium with an estimated cast of 125 local people. Proceeds from the show, produced by Mr. and Mrs. Fed Bergmann, will go to the Girl Scouts, the State and National Polio funds, and to the Handicapped Children’s Treatment Center in San Angelo.

Sept. 23, 1976
Crockett County’s new ambulance is a vast improvement over anything used for emergencies in the past. The new vehicle is fully equipped for any emergency. The inside has all the equipment usually found only in a hospital emergency room. The vehicle is manned by Jerry Cain and James Mahaffey, who are emergency medical technicians, and Dub O’Bryant and Brian Henry, emergency care attendants.
