September 30, 1926
Elaborate plans for a suitable program at the opening of the new $130,000 Hotel Ozona are being made, according to C. T. Brasington, manager, and one of the most important events in the history of Ozona will be celebrated with proper pomp. 

October 1, 1936
The new band and orchestra room being constructed on school property across from the high school gymnasium, is expected to be completed in the next two weeks. The new structure is to be 20x30 feet of frame construction and stuccoed. The building will be sealed with Celotex to reduce noise and will be used exclusively for band and orchestra instruction and rehearsal. Joe Haddon is instructor in this division, with thirty-two pupils enrolled for the course.

October 3, 1946
Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Taylor will open their Bowling Center in the former Kenyon Store (Busby) building next Monday morning. Work has been in progress for the last few weeks on renovating the building and installing the four bowling alleys. Regulation alleys and equipment will be available for players and considerable new equipment, including new balls, have been ordered and delivery is expected soon. The Bowling Center will open each morning at 9 o'clock and will remain open at night as late as bowlers wish to play, Mr. Taylor said.

September 27, 1956
Carl Conklin, outstanding 4-H club member, has been selected to receive the J. T. Rutherford Award as the Outstanding 4-H club boy in Extension District 6, this district representing the 25-county area of West Texas. Carl is the second boy to have his name inscribed on the huge Rutherford Trophy. Tommy Barton of Monahans won it last year. The trophy, when received, will remain in the county agent’s office for one year, with a replica to the receiver. Arrangements will be made with Mr. Rutherford, Congressman from the 16th district, for the presentation of the trophy at some later date, since Carl is now enrolled in Texas A&M College.

September 29, 1966
Three screwworm cases have been confirmed in Crockett County, two on R. A. Harrell ranches, one on his ranch south of Ozona and another on his place 8 miles northeast of Ozona, and the third on the Ralph Jones ranch east of Ozona. These are the first screwworm cases reported since 1964 in the county. County Agent Pete Jacoby pointed out there were no confirmed cases in the county in 1965.

September 30, 1976
BICENTENNIAL PROJECT NEARS COMPLETION - The painting of the courthouse exterior trim was the final job in finishing up the Bicentennial Steering Committee’s permanent project for the county. Courthouse and park grounds were landscaped earlier in the year, and a crew of San Angelo painters made short work of painting the trim. Instead of scaffolding, the painters were hoisted to the top parts of the building in a crane. Colors and materials used were as near as possible to the original. This information was obtained from copies of the architect’s handwritten specifications.
