Ozona—Crockett County 4-H members participated in the District 6 Food Spectacular in Garden City on Nov. 30. Three 4-H teams competed in the food challenge.

Food Challenge is an engaging and educational competition that empowers young participants to develop their culinary skills, teamwork, and nutritional knowledge. This program encourages 4-H members to explore various aspects of food preparation, from menu planning and ingredient selection to cooking techniques.

Teams of participants collaborate to create a nutritious and delicious meal within a 40-minute time frame incorporating a surprise ingredient. The challenge promotes culinary proficiency and fosters leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills among the youth, enhancing their overall development and understanding of healthy eating habits.

Team Cuisine (senior team) was made up of Atleigh Morris, Jaycee Maldonado, and Chance Criswell. They were given ground sausage and they made sausage balls.

Braylee Clark, Amelia Youngblood, and Cort Hale comprised the Triple Threats. They were given shrimp and they made shrimp tacos.

The 3 Musketeers was included Klacey Dean, Lianna Tammen, and Wesley Barker. They were given chickpeas and they made hummus.
