ELEANOR SUE LITTLETON
Eleanor Sue Littleton died May 9, 2024, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She was born to John (Bill) and Eleanor Ingham Littleton in San Angelo on September 25, 1932, returning to the Ingham Ranch in Crockett County where the family lived for several years. Sue was always proud of her West Texas heritage and celebrated her early years in her collection of poems, Ranch on the Pecos.
Sue met and married Julio Gottheil while attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Their three children are Barbara Gottheil Berstein and Diego Gottheil of Buenos Aires and Julia (Pepa) Gottheil of Uruguay and their children. She was a loving grandmother and had two great granddaughters.
Sue was the granddaughter of Ben and Frankie Ingham of Ozona, and she especially loved her uncle and aunt, Lowell and Lucille Littleton, of Ozona. She was the eldest of 15 Ingham cousins.
The marriage ended in divorce, at which time Sue returned to the United States, finally residing in Austin. Sue loved poetry and published several books of it. She especially loved bringing friends from Austin to see the (Ingham) Ranch on the Pecos. Upon her retirement, Sue returned to Argentina to be near her children and grandchildren. Always busy, Sue became a president of the American Women’s Club in Buenos Aires and involved herself with poetry readings in Argentina as well as in Austin.
Sue loved life and, especially, her four cats. I always loved her joyous, free spirit. She was a great friend, and I’ll always miss her.
