An underground conduit system with electrical outlets placed at strategic places through the central area of the park was installed this week in the downtown Ozona park. The new park wiring system will eliminate the necessity for stringing temporary electric service lines to the park each time a nighttime public gathering is staged in the park and will prove a convenience to the public in the use of the park.

Three Ozona girls were injured late Monday afternoon when their car crashed into a tree about one mile east of Ozona on US 290. Two of the injured girls, Mary Jo Walker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Walker and a student at Ozona High School, and Jeannene Hester, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hester and a spring graduate of Ozona High School, underwent surgery at Crockett County Hospital Tuesday to set broken bones. The third girl, Diane Couch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Couch and also a student at Ozona High School, was under observation but apparently was not seriously hurt, suffering from bumps and bruises. The Falcon convertible, belonging to Diane Couch, who was driving, left the highway and crossed the bar ditch to crash head-on into a large mesquite tree in the right of way. The girls said an oncoming car in the wrong lane forced them off the highway. They were traveling east, and the fact that the car was going at a moderate speed probably saved the girls’ lives. The little red Falcon was damaged extensively.

New home construction booms in Ozona. Here, the new home of Mr. and Mrs. George Bunger, Jr., is under construction. The home is being built on the site of the old Bunger home, which was torn down some months ago to make way for the new house. The large luxurious home is being built in a setting of large oak and pecan trees and is already attractively landscaped.
