It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Castulo “Junior” Bilano Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who went to be with the Lord on November 29, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on September 1, 1952, in Sinton, Texas, Junior lived a life defined by commitment, service, and love, which touched all who had the privilege to know him. 
Junior dedicated nearly 50 years of his life to public service, starting as a Texas State Trooper, a role he embraced with unwavering dedication for 44 years. His commitment to protecting and serving his fellow citizens left an indelible mark on countless lives across the state. After retiring as a State Trooper, he continued his call to serve for another 3 years with the Ozona’s Sheriff’s Office, showcasing a passion for public service that knew no bounds. His legacy of selflessness, courage, and loyalty will forever inspire all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
In addition to his commendable career, Junior was a man of many interests. He had a deep love for traveling and exploring new places, creating cherished memories with those he loved along the way. Above all, he took immense joy in supporting his children and grandchildren at their events, where he could be found cheering them on with pride and celebrating their achievements. His warm, funny spirit, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to his family will always be remembered.
Junior is survived by his loving wife, Susan Bilano, and his cherished children: Jessica Nunez and husband Theo of Boerne, TX; Eric Bilano and wife Amanda of Southern Pines, NC; Marissa Ontiveros of Fort Stockton, TX; O'rion Bilano of San Angelo, TX; Travis Knaack and wife Ana of Ozona, TX; Joseph Knaack and wife Miranda of Cedar Park, TX; and Jessica Phelps and husband John of Boerne, TX. He was also a proud grandfather to his grandchildren: Emma and Theo Nunez, Josh and Sydney Knaack, Katherine and Arthur Knaack, and Wylie, Wesley and Ashleigh Phelps.
Junior was one of thirteen children. He is survived by his siblings: Dora and husband Manual Tijerina of Raymondville, TX; Joe and Mari Bilano of Fluvanna, TX; John Bilano of Denton, TX; Daniel and Cheryl Bilano of Decatur, TX; Elizabeth and Wan Napper of Clarksville, TN; Noah Bilano of Snyder, TX; Henry Bilano of Portland, TX; Pattie and Shannon Crawford of Clarksville, TN; and Delores Holcomb of Stillwater, OK.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Josefina and Castulo Bilano, along with his brothers Paul and Rene Bilano and sister Helen Hernandez. 
A viewing will be held at Preddy Funeral Home on Thursday, December 5th from 6 - 8 p.m., with a memorial service to follow Friday, December 6th at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Ozona, Texas. 
As we honor the life of Castulo Bilano Jr., we remember a man who embodied the spirit of community service and family love. His warmth, humor, wisdom, and devotion will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
