A resolution asking the Texas Legislature to pass a law regulating the movement of livestock by truck to various public sales and requiring the keeping of accurate records of such livestock as pass through the sales rings was passed by the Crockett County Commissioners Court in January session this week. The resolution is being asked of all counties in the livestock producing area by the Texas Sheriffs’ Association, copies to be sent to state senators and representatives in an effort to bring about passage of the requested legislation. Law enforcement officers are seeking some kind of regulation of the movement of livestock in an effort to cut down on livestock thefts. By requiring accurate records of ownership on all stock passing through the sales ring, officers will have the opportunity to check all receipts and trace stolen livestock should any be offered in the sales rings.

Greyhound put its famous new scenicruiser into service in Ozona Wednesday on an express-bus schedule between New Orleans and Los Angeles. Announcement that the $50,000 double-deck luxury bus would go into operation here came today in a joint statement from J.S. Judd and J.D. Mahaffey, general traffic managers of Southwestern Greyhound Lines, Inc. and Kerrville Bus Company, respectively. Judd said this new Scenicruiser schedule will follow the Old Spanish Trail from New Orleans to the West Coast, through San Antonio, Pecos and El Paso. It will be a through bus, with no change of bus or baggage en route. The Scenicruiser was exhibited here in September. About 40 of these revolutionary coaches will eventually be in operation over Texas.

After spending nine uncomfortable hours at the bottom of the 120-foot deep earth crack northeast of Ozona known as the 09 cave, the Ozona boys welcomed the arrival of worried parents who brought them to the surface one at a time by means of a cable and a pickup truck. One safety precaution the five boys did heed was to tell their parents where they intended going. Otherwise the search might still be on.
