Charles Hunter Preston

February 13, 2025

Charles Hunter Preston was born in Eldorado, Texas on October 7, 1975 to Richard (Tree) and Jill Preston. He passed away suddenly on February 6, 2025.
Hunter was husband to Carla, and son to Richard and Jill. He was brother and brother-in-law to Trey and Angela and uncle to Thomas, Lily and Kaylan. He was a son-in-law to Rachelle and Jimmy and brother-in-law to Bubba and Hannah. He was a beloved nephew, cousin and best friend to many.
To know Hunter was to love him. He loved people. He made everyone he knew feel special. He was truly interested in people. He had a personal relationship with each person that made each of them feel special. There are many people who will miss their daily text messages and phone calls from Hunter. Mama, (Jill) loved having the boys to herself.
As soon as Hunter was old enough, he and Trey played together in washer pitching tournaments. They were a pretty tough duo to beat. They both loved to play together. Another event the boys and Thomas loved and looked forward to participating in was the Hext Memorial Golf Tournament.
Hunter’s family loved spending time on the Devil’s River. He grew up fishing and playing in the crystal clear water of the river. Their many fishing trips helped develop Hunter’s love of the outdoors and spending time on the water. He loved sitting around a fire visiting with the people he loved after a long day of fun on the river.
After high school and a short stint in college, Hunter figured out college was not for him. He started his life in the oilfield at age 19. He loved his work and woke up ready to work hard every day. He worked for various oil field supply and down hole tool companies. His experiences there led him to start his own contract lease operating business around 2008.
Hunter married Carla Lynn Price on September 19, 2015 in Las Vegas. They made their home in Ozona, Texas where Hunter was operating his business. He and Carla continued to build his business through the years.
He worked hard very hard, but also played hard. His name fit him perfectly because he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved playing golf with Carla and his friends and family. He was always the life of the party. Hunter gave so many people so much joy. He would always put a smile on your face if he was around.
