Judge C.E. Davidson, who ranges both cattle and sheep on his ranch land south of here, was offered eight cents for his yearling steers this week, it was learned here. This is top offering of this season in this area. Whether or not the Ozona ranch man will accept the offer from the unannounced buyer, is not known. Mr. Davidson also maintains a feeding farm for stock in Iowa and his cattle bring top prices annually.

Five crew members escaped without injury and an Army Transport Command C-47 twin-engine transport plane was undamaged in a forced landing of the plane in the Early Chandler pasture at the outskirts of Ozona Friday afternoon. Engine trouble caused the forced landing, a clogged fuel line putting the right engine out of commission. The plane was heavily loaded with war cargo and the pilot brought the plane in over the town of Ozona at low level to make perfect landing at the small clearing just west of Johnson Draw in the Chandler pasture. The pilot brought the plane to a sliding stop just about thirty feet short of a wire fence at the south end of the clearing.
